Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and Barrick health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
- Report any HSE issues through an incident report.
- Actively participate in and contribute to the site’s safety and environmental culture.
- Understand mine planning, production requirements, and project planning, including civil and architectural drawings.
- Supervise and coach Survey Technicians and Survey Assistants.
- Perform surveys for engineering, geotechnical, and geological designs with minimal supervision.
- Conduct Bathymetric surveys of Tailing Storage Facilities and other water bodies within the mine.
- Assist in data collection, computation, reconciliation, and reporting at the end of each month.
- Improve and adhere to mine surveying procedures and practices.
- Compile survey data into proper formats and grid reference systems.
- Provide as-built surveys for all excavations and infrastructure projects.
- Ensure safe and organized storage of survey data in databases and filing systems.
- Continuously update underground and open-cut mining plans to meet statutory requirements.
- Manage systems for layout and maintenance of survey reference marks both on surface and underground.
- Inspect and control survey equipment to ensure effective utilization and optimal condition.
- Provide on-the-job training and coaching for Survey Technicians and Survey Assistants.
- Maintain serviceable condition of survey equipment by performing regular checks and adjustments.
- Fulfill the role of Mine Surveyor during absences.
- Develop audit protocols for survey activities performed by Survey Technicians.
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Geomatics or Land Surveying.
Experience and Competencies:
- At least 3 months to 1 year of experience in civil construction projects such as roads, dams, and buildings.
- Practical experience in a large mining environment, preferably underground and open-pit mining.
- A strong knowledge of mining surveying principles.
- Experience with modern surveying equipment including drones, GNSS receivers (Trimble/Leica/Sokkia), Total Stations, laser scanners, and SlimGyro/Boretrack.
- Proficiency in mining software such as Geovia Surpac, Maptek, Datamine, AutoCAD 3D, Trimble Business Centre (TBC), ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office.
- A valid and current Tanzania driving license.
- Possession of a valid Tanzania passport.
- A valid Remote Drone Pilot certificate (advantageous).
