Position Summary:
Afya Women Group is seeking a DREAMS Officer to join our team and lead the implementation of the DREAMS (Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored, and Safe) initiatives. The DREAMS Officer will work to reduce the risk of HIV infections among Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) through targeted education, mentorship, and facilitating access to health services. This position plays a key role in addressing the vulnerabilities of AGYW and ensuring they have the knowledge and resources to lead healthy, empowered lives.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Implementation:
- Lead the implementation of DREAMS initiatives, focusing on HIV prevention and health education for AGYW.
Coordination with Health Facilities:
- Coordinate with local health facilities to organize HIV Testing and Counselling (HTC) services for AGYW.
Referrals Facilitation:
- Facilitate bi-directional referrals to ensure AGYW can access necessary health and social services.
Community Engagement:
- Engage the community through awareness campaigns that aim to reduce HIV transmission among adolescent girls and young women.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Document program progress and contribute to the preparation of quarterly and annual reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Required: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Community Development, or related fields.
Experience:
- Prior experience in HIV prevention programs, particularly those targeting adolescent girls and young women.
Skills:
- Strong skills in community engagement and program implementation.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
